That’s if anyone was brilliant enough to come up with the concept. After all, they’re good looking and provide shade from the sun and shelter from the rain. They help keep the air clean and are now used as “lungs” in urban areas. They help combat global warming. And on top of that, many species produce edible fruit and nuts, helping promote a healthy diet. As for hedges, they provide privacy and protection from the wind. They too are beautiful and can be fruit-bearing because a hedge is just a closely planted line of bushes or trees. It doesn’t work with all species, of course – you’re never going to find a hedge of coconut palms, not one that’s going to keep anything out or in, anyway, but they can make spectacular forests.

Trees and Hedges Need Looking After

You could argue that trees managed perfectly well before humans came up with the idea of gardens, and in addition to growing food, the ability to add beauty to your property was quickly embraced. Australia is a blessed country when it comes to plants and foliage, so it sometimes seems like what we’re doing is keeping nature under control, rather than encouraging it, but perhaps “keeping an eye on it” is the best way of describing it. Trees can be left to their own devices to a great extent, but when they get damaged or become diseased, you need someone skilled at tree and hedge services to step in and help restore them to fitness and health. Sometimes trees need pruning or lopping, and these are things best left to people who provide professional hedge and tree services. Roots can get out of hand, too, and may need to be blocked or diverted, or even pruned. Yes, roots can be pruned, but if you try that yourself, you’re really asking for trouble.
